Drug testing in chess is horrendous. No drugs have ever been shown to improve performance, and it’s solely because of FIDE’s attempts to make chess an Olympic sport that they follow the Olympics drug testing program.
Since there are no drugs that help chess performance, the whole thing is another ridiculous scheme of the demented head of FIDE who somehow thinks putting ice inside chess pieces might get chess to be part of the olympics.
The procedure must take into account the rate of false positives inherent in any testing. Example: if a test detects a banned substance with 50% efficiency and has a false positive rate of 1%, and it is used to screen 500 individuals, 4 of whom are using the banned substance, then 2 cheaters will be detected along with 5 innocents.
Steroid chess? Give me a break.
Another mockery of common sense. There have been zero studies showing any drug that boosts chess ability. This is not weight lifting or running, this is just FIDE being a whore.
