      Great news for US Chess!

      Rex Sinquefield, US Team

I just received the following email from GM Finegold:

“Rex (Sinquefield) has agreed to sponsor the U.S. team for the World Team Championship! It is a very generous gesture – one for which the participants are quite thankful. Without his support, the U.S. team would not have been able to go, as the USCF said they are unable to provide assistance. The team consists of Hikaru Nakamura, Alexander Onischuk, Yury Shulman, Varuzhan Akobian, and Robert Hess and will compete in Turkey from January 3 through 14.”

Mr. Sinquefield also sponsored the 2009 US Championship and US Women’s Championship as well as for 2010. This is great news for American chess players.

Why can’t the USCF fund this? Isn’t this the job of the USCF? Great move by Mr. Rex.

How come you reported this while the USCF website has no news about it? Are you sure you got it right? I can’t imagine why the USCF wouldn’t announce such a big news first.

Because, in my opinion, the USCF is nothing more than a den for child molesters and taxicab drivers.

Rex and all active chess players are the true USCF, not the pretenders in (double)Crossville.

Poor Americans…don’t have enough money to send their team to a competition. I think other richer countries like Ukraine, China, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Mongolia, Vietnam, etc. should chip in.

The world must show solidarity so that 3rd world counties like USA can participate too.

I think it’s time for you Americans to set up a competing chess federation.

I wonder if Mr. Rex would be into it?

Thank you for your generosity, Rex!

The USCF is truly staggering now. Too much abuse from bad leaders (like the current batch).

Susan Polgar should not have been ousted! Now there’s someone who really cares about American chess. I stand behind Susan all the way.

I read a interview with Kamsky (on chessdom.com a month or two back I think) where he stated that he was stepping aside for the World Team Championships to allow a young American (presumably Hess) to gain some international experience.
