So what’s new with the Kamsky – Topalov match? Will it be in Bulgaria?

I heard that Goichberg put in a bid for the Topalov – Kamsky match during the next World Open. Unfortunately, the sticking point was he insisted that they pay for their own expenses and bring their own clock, set, board and MonRoi units.

I am surprised that Gashimov only has 1 point considering he has 2 draws and 1 win 😀 He is listed with 2 points on the official site though. Also a 0-0-0 for Cheparinov is a surprise. Kamsky – Grischuk will be a really interesting game tomorrow.

Gashimov has 2 points, not 1.

It’s still too early to say anything. I think we have to wait at least until the first rest day.
The biggest dissapointement seems to be Svidler and Mamedyarov (and of course Cheparinov with 0 points).
I’m positively surprised by Gashimov and Inarkiev, although Inarkiev score doesn’t look impressing at all. He played much better than his score says. He won convincingly against Mamedyarov, was doing just fine against Kamsky, and was doing more than fine against Carlsen. His problem is that he made a mistake and managed to lose both games against Kamsky and Carlsen.

Cheparinov is playing at around 1900 strength… That means I can say I play like a GM?

No, he is currently playing at an unmeasurable strength. He needs to score at least half a point so we can measure his rating performance in this tournament.
