      Haessler wins Oregon Championship

      Carl Haessler, Oregon


      Carl Haessler of Lake Oswego Oregon has won the 2009 Oregon Chess Championship held recently at the Portland Oregon Chess Club. It was a 10 player round robin event held over two weekends. Carl last won the event in 1996. 21 different men have won the title since the first event in 1961. Some years there were co-champions. More information at http://www.nwchess.com.

        The winners score was 7-2 undefeated. His 4th championship but the other years he was co-champion. Roger Martin was 2nd.
