This event looks awesome! Kudos to Wisconsin tournament maven Allen Becker for organizing it–and also to Goddesschess.com, I just love what they’re doing for women’s chess! 🙂

This is a great event (worth 10 Grand Prix points) and Goddesschess is happy to encourage more females to play in such events in our own small way. We do what we can – we wish we could do more to support and encourage chess femmes financially. Last year we contributed $750 to various events; this year our goal is to do a little more, and then a little more, and then a little more. What’s the saying – from an acorn grows a mighty oak. Our inspiration comes from the great things that Susan Polgar, her Foundation, and SPICE have done and are doing. As an international chess icon, GM Polgar is able to focus attention on the worthy goal of bringing chess to everyone and, particularly, to girls.

Goddesschess.com has been very supportive of chess in WI. In addition to the prizes at Hales Corner Challenge, they made a very generous contribution for the Wisconsin Scholastic Chess Federation All Girls Tournment this February which allowed us to increase our scholarships for the All Girls tournament.

Thanks to Jan and Goddesschess.com for their support.
