      ‘I Have a Dream’ tournament in Oregon will be open to all ages

      Annual chess tournament set for Jan. 21 
      ‘I Have a Dream’ tournament will be open to all ages 
      Wednesday, January 9, 2013 11:45 pm


      Registration will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. with the tournament running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

      Early registration is available by 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, by sending the name, grade and school of the contestant and the contact person’s phone number or email to Marvin Dykstra, DykstraM@kfalls.k12.or.us(541-331-5737; fax to 541-885-4276) or Audrey Poudrier, PoudrierA@kfalls.k12.or.us(541-883-4760; fax to 541-883-4773).

      There is a $5 fee for pre-registered players in kindergarten through the 12th grade that can be paid on the day of the tournament. A $10 fee will be charged at the door for all adult players and late registrations.

      All players will play all five rounds. They should bring quiet games to play between rounds and sack lunches.

      Players in grades nine through 12 and adults are asked to bring tournament chess boards and clocks, if they have them, to the tournament.
