      IM Sevillano leads cast in Cebu City

      IM Sevillano leads cast in Cebu City Masters Chess tilt

      SIX of Cebu’s top woodpushers will be competing in the Cebu City Masters Chess Championships.

      The top players are International Master (IM) Enrico Sevillano, National Master Eric Gloria , IM Steven Kim Yap, NM Merben Roque, Voltaire Sevillano and NM Rogelio Enriquez.

      The top six-seeded players will compete on June 22 to 26 during the finals at the Cebu City Library along the Osmeña Boulevard.

      The elimination round for other participants will kick off this coming Sunday at the Oriental Port and Allied Services Corporation (OPASCOR) building at the North Reclamation Area.

      The Cebu City Chess Federation headed by Roger Abella are expecting more than a hundred wood pushers to join.

      The top four players after the elimination round will be added to the top six for the final round.

      The top 10 players in the elimination games will be receiving cash prizes.

      Registration fee for the ladies and kiddies is pegged at P100 while the open division will have a P200 fee.

      Abella and Marvin Ruelan will handle the tournament.
