      AICF PRESS RELEASE

AICF Takes Up Linares Issue With FIDE

The All India Chess Federation has taken up the rating issue of the Morelia/Linares Chess Tournament with FIDE, the World Chess Body for excluding the World’s Premier event from the April 2007 rating list. The AICF has requested FIDE to follow normal norms and rate this event as was done before. Viswanathan Anand had won this event and rating it would make him the No.1 in the World Ranking list as of April 1, 2007.

FIDE had published the list of events rated for the April 2007 list and had excluded the Morelia/Linares event. The AICF has asked FIDE to rate this event as done in the past 15 or more years. The Linares Tournament has been traditionally been included in all rating lists published by FIDE in April and excluding it this time will be injustice to Indian chess and Viswanathan Anand.

Including the Morelia/Linares Tournament will pull down Veselin Topalov (who finished last at Linares) and Viswanathan Anand would be the No.1. Viswanathan Anand himself is in Germany playing the Bundesliga for defending champion Baden Baden and was not available for comment.

The AICF Secretary D.V.Sundar has taken up the issue with FIDE and expects the correction by FIDE as early as Monday.

Note that a large number of other events ending in the first half of march have been included. A correction is obviously required, either to remove the other events, or to add Linares.

I don’t see any particular reason to claim FIDE should do it one way or the other, as long as if a new policy is instituted, it is used consistently in the near future. Of course, given Anand’s long history in the #2 spot, and that he is perhaps the 2nd biggest fan favorite (after Moro of course), it would be tragic to change the rules at this particular time. That said, I don’t think the effects on a particular player should be used to determine ratings policy. Sadly, given that other events were included, this seems to have happened.

This is only just, to atone for the damage FIDE did to Topalov in the World Championships. Not disqualifying Kramnik after the cables were discovered was inexcusable. Now they have allowed him to keep the #1 ranking for at least six more months. This is great! Since Anand never was the number one player in the world he won’t miss much.

        Way to go FIDE !

Cables? No cables were discovered. Why do people insist on telling lies in spite of the evidence? Is George W, Bush posting here now?

        No Cables?

The interview with Topalov begins with a brief description of his life and career in Spain. Then it turns to the scandal at the World Championship match in Elista. Topalov says there were “clear indications of cheating” in the way Kramnik went to the bathroom, came out and played instantly. Cables were found in the ceiling of the bathroom, but the Topalov team kept quiet “for many reasons.” Topalov specifies that “there were threats”, that the airport was closed and his team was worried how they could get out of Russia.

C’mon…it’s not really that weird to have cables on the ceiling. there should be plenty anyway, e.g utility and stuff. Besides, Kramnik really is a great blindfold player, of course, but i can’t imagine him capable of plugging cables into his ears and deciphering the binary codes without a laptop, isn’t he?

Fide sucks. This is just another example of its long list of discriminations. Remember the time when the world championship is off-limits to women? Just ask Susan.

Topalov is a total cheat. And now the evidence is pouring out. When he can not get signals his tournament performance rating is

        2620
        2645
        2690

all you Topalov fans lets hear from you explaining this. come on 2620 performance is not acceptable. This is why he needs the signals from Danailov to get up to 2800. Total cheat. Ruining chess. Breaks Fide ethics rules.

Topalov should be banned for 3 years from all fide events. Instead of that Fide gives him a title match if Kramnik wins in Mexico. More unfair bias. Kirsan did everything he could to fix Elista match and now gives Topalov a free ride on the April list and on a possible next title match.

Remember all this follows Topalov cheating and stealing the title in San Luis.

The world should scream out for the injustice of Fide to be corrected.

THERE ARE NO CABLES IN KRAMNIK RESTROOM! STOP IT!
        BECAUSE
        1) THERE IS NO KRAMNIK RESTROOM!
        PLAYERS CHANGED RESTROOM AFTER
EVERY GAME, SO IT IS BOTH
        KRAMNIK AND TOPALOV RESTROOM.
        2) CABLES WERE INSIDE THE CEILING,
        NO FREE CABLES!
TOPALOV IS THE GREAT PLAYER, BUT HE AND DANAILOV ARE THE WORST THING WHAT HAPPEN WITH CHESS IN THE LAST 15 YEARS. ANYWAY ARE THERE CHEATERS OR NOT, AFTER TOILET GATE TOPALOV, DANAILOV AND FIDE VICE PRESIDENTS AZMAIPARASHVILI AND MAKROPOPULOS HAD TO GO AWAY FROM CHESS.
GENS UNA SUMUS IS A GOOD SLOGAN,
BUT IT IS THE MAFIA SLOGAN. PERIOD.

        Yes, I agree.
        FIDE stinks.
Topalov and Danailov shoud be banned for liars and cheaters.

Nothing suprising that Anand’s name is not in the #1 spot. FIDE has in the past years sprang such surprises. Its injustice to Anand, poor fella, as a gentleman he will not be saying anything either.
Hope this issue is sorted out before it becomes another scandal!

They are clearly off topic and only serve to inflame an already touche subject.

        Because. Because.

P.S. I really carewho is number one elo in the world, because elo is the only important thing in chess, to brag about later all your lifetime. Only elo matters, both for adults and children, in spite of what others may say.

        Cheers!

Pony and other dumb Topalov fans :
Kramnik has nothing to do with this, so spare us your venom.
        Anonymous “march 31 8:30:00 pm” ,
Your comment is the most stupid one
written since long on this blog.
Your remarks make no sense at all.
You’re nothing more than a lying whore.
Pony : you think and write as a five year old.
        I suspect you’re another typical
        russophobe from eastern europe,
        brainwashed by mainstream mass media.
It may be difficult for you to change your extremely limited way of thinking, but try at least to write correctly.
Please brush you teeth and spare
        us your stinking breath.

        Steven – Belgium

My remarks may be venomous, but I
just thought it necessary to adapt
to the level of these people, in order that they get the message.

        You judge others but yourself.
Stop insulting others and take the care of yourself, might be you need a doctor.
I do not believe you are from Belgium. Here are living kind and gentle persons.

I am not Topa nor Kram fan.
I am the BOBYY and Ruslan fan

        Hi,

I do not think that Vishy want to comment the fact. I think he is above of it. He is brilliant player, one of the best if not the best one in the moment and knows about that.
Rating list are only numbers for the crowd.

        Pony,

I am from Belgium, in every country you have different kinds of people,
and for the moment i can still handle without a doctor.
But as a Bobby (Fischer ?!) fan,
you surely must be used to this kind of language.
Ok, i was too rough with you, but i insist that your remarks often make no sense, and when i read nonsense i become very emotional and angry.
It must be sad for you, seeing your
hero Ponomariov playing poorly and losing points the last months.
I hope he will do better in the future.
        If you’re Ukrainian yourself, your
picking at Kramnik is surprising for me since i think Kramnik is not
unpopular in the eastern and southern Ukraine ?

If this scandal was on Topalov what would they do?

They (Dana&Topa twins) would immediately give a press conference.

Would sue FIDE just one minute after list was announced.

They would say that was the act of Kramnik!

They would say Kramnik has cables in his brain!

They would say they were under death threat in Elista bla bla bla bla…..

        Steven…
‘ and when i read nonsense i become very emotional and angry.’ and impolite :-(.
Because of that you have to go to the doctor.
If not to the doctor then to the ‘Kinderstube’. If English is too difficult to you to understand how to manage the situation.

Ponomariov is not my hero. I do not think about sportsmen in such a cathegories. He was WCC at 18, then the media stress and mess around his match with Kasparov made big impact on him and i think he understood that time that being the no 1 in chess is not most important in the life. That is nothing sad for me or for him to lose sometimes.

Being fan of R.J. Fischer did not make me used to such way of expressing the views as yours.

        Pony.

        Hi,

if the rules are rules they shall not do that but if that is politics no rules then… everything is possible, it is dirty matter.
But in that case they shall include other March events.

concerning Pono – he is another victim of Danailov (as Topalov),
danailov and topalov help him to beat Ivanchuk in the 2002 FIDE World Championship Match, but then danailov politics took him away from Kasparov match, and finally 18 years old star lost not only his title but his winning track as well. I hope he still can recover for the very top level. Topalov byself is also Danailov victim, Danailov killed his reputation anyway, but Topalov too old :)) and too long with Danailov (he grew up with him), only with Danailov, so I think he will never break up with Danailov, so Danailov will prolong used him and his money. And it is not only Topalov problem but the rest of Chess World also.
