India still in medal hunt in both Olympiads

      Chess Olympiad, Dresden, India

Marginal victory for Indians, men move up to third
By Our Chess Correspondent Dresden (Germany), Nov 20 (PTI)

Indian men and women teams carved out identical 2.5-1.5 victories over Bosnia-Herzegovina and Italy, respectively, in the sixth round of the 32nd chess Olympiad now underway here.

The Indian men moved to joint third spot with 10 points out of a possible 12 in the open section and are now behind Russia and Armenia, who share the lead on 11 points each.

The women took their tally to nine points to share the sixth place.China (12 points) continue to lead the women’s section and have opened up a two-point lead over nearest rivals United States after beating Hungary 2.5-1.5 in the sixth round.

Playing the top board, Krishnan Sasikiran defeated Predrag Nikolic of Bosnia-Herzegovina to open India’s account. That was the lone victory for the men with the remaining three games ending in draws.

P Harikrishna signed peace with Borki Predojevic while Ibro Saric and Dalibor Stojanovic held higher ranked Indians Surya Shekhar Ganguly and Sandipan Chanda.

Among the women, Tania Sachdev succumbed to her first defeat in the tournament when she went down to Olga Zimina of Italy.

World junior girls’ champion D Harika’s hunt for an elusive victory on the top board continued after she was held by Elena Sedina.

With India trailing, it needed the in-form Swati Ghate and Mary Ann Gomes to ensure victory.

Judit has been sick for the last 10 days or so. She is on medication. He has a flu.

A treatment I don’t prescribe to my patients, but use it on myself:

        Keflex 500mg x4 to start
Another four 8 hours later, another two 8 hours later. Then one four times a day. This is totally non-standard and fell out of favor years ago, with the scientific stand that flu is a virus. It is and antibiotics are not affecting viruses, BUT…..undiagnosed bacterial superinfection is frequent and often that makes a “flu” to linger for like 10 days. The “overdose” of antibiotics are not, they are perfectly safe.

She could continue with whatever other medications she maybe taking. This regimen often knocked out my “flu” in less than a full day.
