Each year on July 20 the International Day of chess is celebrated all over the world. Chess – the only sport that has its own holiday. The Celebration day was approved by FIDE in 1966.

The annual competitions were raised to new levels: 229 participants fought at the chessboards. That is an absolute record for national competitions in the Republic! Moreover, the tournament was held in the heart of Elista – in the cultural complex «Pagoda of seven days».
