According to my sources, Senator John McCain has chosen Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate.
Sarah Heath Palin (Feb 11, 1964) is the current Governor of Alaska. She is a member of the Republican Party. She is the youngest and first female governor of Alaska. She is also a mother of five children.

Are we to infer that you’re a McCain supporter? If so, ick. I’ve never heard of Sarah Palin in my life. I guess the point must be to balance the crotchedy old man with a young woman.
Never been an Alaskan on a major-party presidential ticket before, I think.

Because Janet Reno is her father!” A class guy all the way.
A very shrewd, smart move on McCain’s part. This is an obvious appeal to the hundreds of thousands of women who supported Hillary Rodham Clinton’s presidency bid who will not forget how she was trashed and discarded by the Democratic Party in general and Obama in particular. It’s too late for Obama to take back his choice now. Wow! This is shaping up to be one interesting election. Great call, Susan.

Okay, Sarah Palin cannot be the best VP pick the Republican party could come up with. Under investigation in Alaska, says didn’t know what the vice president does just days ago, are we that desperate?
So John McCain thinks that selecting a woman, any woman will automatically make women vote for him for president, inspite of his policies. Further evidence that John McCain doesn’t hold women in high regard.

After tackling and bringing down one corrupt official or exec after another, it would be very much a surprise if she weren’t “under investigation in Alaska”–I’m sure there are a lot of people in Alaska who want to take here down. However, her approval rating is around 90%.
McCain wanted a clean, popular, energetic, rising GOP star, and he got one. She’s the best of those that received so much buzz: 1. Pawlenty would have been safe, but fairly conventional; 2. Romney would be a great VP, but not such a great campaigner; 3. Bobby Jindal’s time has not yet come; 4. Lieberman would have been a terrible idea.

I like Dem’s fight for universal healthcare, which is a basic human right, but I don’t like their policies of brewing a large portion of the population to become un-motivated and government-dependent.
Republican’s policies encourage everyone to be as successful as he/she can, which helps make this country a great country, but their ignorance of basic human rights makes me feel they are cold-blooded.
I am not sure who to vote for yet.

Your comparison of Obama’s experience to Palin is total trash. Obama has been a U.S. Senator for four years not one. Palin was mayor of a town of a whopping 9,000 people not a city. Just imagine, McCain is in his seventies and not the best of health. At some point he will at least have to relinquish his position to undergo medical testing or possibly have another surgery. And Palin will be the president. I’ve known Hiullary Clinton for awhile and believe me, Palin is no Hillary Clinton.
RE: Universal health care. In theory, it sounds “nice”, but several huge problems jump to mind:
1. Offer something for free, and there will be a huge rush for the product. Health care would become even less accessible than it is now–much less.
2. There is no way the incompetent D.C. bureaucracies can efficiently and effectively run something as complex as the health care system.
3. If government controls health care system, the government assert itself more and more into your personal choices: ban fatty foods, motorcycles, etc.
I don’t think the world will survive another 4 years of Republican rule.
Obama was elected US senator in Nov 2004 – Moved to Washington in Jan 2005 – Started ampaign for president since Jan 2007 … neither 1 year nor 4 years, 2 years is about right (don’t count spending the time writing two books during that period). To hit Palin’s inexperience on the queenside may backfire Obama’s inexperience on the kingside. An unexperienced president is more worrisome than an unexperienced VP. This is a brilliant tactic McCain’s people set up to get folks talking about Palin’s inexperience.

…and Obama was a “community organizer (e.g., working with Bill Ayers on radicalizing education system in Chicago)” I’d pick the Mayor’s experience every time.
Obama has been a Senator for over three years (but spent two of those years running for President), and Palin has been a governor for nearly two years. A few year’s experience as a governor is substantially more relevant and valuable than a few years as Senator.
Finally, Palin has actually accomplished quite a bit in her years’ service, whereas Obama has NOTHING to show for his work, except for a phenomenal well-developed skill for self-promotion.
Palin is more experienced and more qualified than Obama.
Having someone like her a heartbeat away from the Presidency is nowhere near as scary as having someone like Obama IN the Presidency.
My question is how is it possible for Susan to make better predictions than the political experts? She correctly picked Biden and now Palin.
Sarah will be a much better VP than Barack as President.

Is there really a big difference here? Come on. In 2000 there was a dime’s worth of difference between the 2 candidates, in ’04 a nickel, now there’s no choosing between the two.
I am sorry for how this might corrupt Palin. The only positive thing I can think of is that since McCain’s going to lose anyway, she won’t get as much of a chance to be corrupted as she might otherwise have.

Re Mccain’s VP choice, if we look at it from his perspective, what else could he have done?
Mitt Romney — helps with base, economy; but is super-rich, which is currently a problem for Mccain. Also, doesn’t help with younger voters and women.
Carly Fiorina, Meg Whitman: help with women, but super-rich + corporate america is something that can be exploited.
Tom Ridge: solid, experienced. however, along with Joe Liberman, not young, cannot appeal to that group. doesn’t help with base (pro-choice).
Advantage of current choice (from Mccain’s perspective):
Counters celebrity factor of Obama.
Blunts Obama’s successful argument against Hillary: “we are tired of the old ways of Washington”
If people can see how ridiculous Palin’s inexperience and good looks are for the job, perhaps they will see the same in Obama.
Some stupid males will vote for an attractive female.
Big Oil stands to gain, and will pour in money — money being one major advantage of Obama.
