Welcome message from Giampietro Pagnoncelli, President of the Italian Chess Federation

The 2011 Edition of the Italian Rapid Championships in Fano is the first with this new structure from FSI. Organised over three days, there will be three separate tournaments of 5′, 15′ and 30′ respectively.

Despite the fact that this formula is completely new, the FSI is certain that the championships will be highly successful; as they will be hosted in a territory (Le Marche) famous for the quality of its hospitality, and its cultural, tourist and historical traditions.

The FSI thanks the event’s organizing Committee for their work and effort, and wishes all the players a great tournament and happy stay, remembering that chess, other than being a sport, is culture and enjoyment.
