
Jersey City student chess champions are crowned

More than 100 Jersey City students from public, charter and private schools competed in the Jersey City Public School Elementary Chess Championship recently, which district officials called a huge success.
Students competed in their grade section for trophies, while their parents competed in a chess questionaire competition for prizes. At lunch time, selected student’s were paired with public officials in a 5-minute speed chess competition.
Kindergarten:
1st place — Surya Sendhilraj, School16
2nd place — Amy Hu, Learning Community Charter School
3rd place — Taylor & Morgan Sindle, Waterfront Montessori School
Grade 1:
1st place — Adhish Kadam,School 16
2nd place — Arpita Edke, School 16

Grade 2:
1st place — Arjun Lyer, School 37
2nd place — Anagh Kulkarni, School 37
Grade 3:
1st place — Jaylen Boone, School 30
2nd place — Georgia Motes, School 30
3rd place — Pauline Bayotas, School 30
Grade 4:
1st place — Amimah Tahir, School 16
2nd place — Haig Rickerby, Oou Lady of Czestochowa
Grade 5:
