      Karpov and Korchnoi on the same team?

      Karpov, Korchnoi, Russian Team Championship


      Shocking but true! The feud between Kasparov and Karpov seemed to vanish and now Korchnoi is playing on the same team as Karpov in the Russian Team Championship! It seems that the Chess For Peace idea has become a reality 🙂

      The Russian Team Championship is taking place from May 1 – 12, 2007 in Sochi. Here are just some of the big names as reported on www.RusChess.com:

        Why is Korchnoi in the Russian Team Championship at all? He’s still a Swiss citzen, isn’t he?

        You don’t have to be russian to play for a russian team. Think of football teams.

        Susan,
        have you had time to look at the Morozevich-Ivanchuk game that was played the other day? It was a fantastic game although Moro made a mess of it in the end

        Korchnoi didn’t look to happy about it in the photo on the official website and Karpov is playing one ultra quick draw after another, presumably just to get out of the playing hall as quickly as possible…
