Kasparov will be the next President…of the Kasparov Foundation. Russia? No chance.

Unfortunately, he probably isn’t going to win.

But good for him for using his chess celebrity for a noble (maybe one day Nobel) cause. Go Kasparov!!

I respect Kasparov for standing up for his vision of Russia’s future. Yet, Putin is a dictator. He’s already planned to remain in power as Prime Minister next year and whomever is president will just be a figurehead.

But, that is Russia’s history. They have always had a “strongman” as a leader. They were called Czars (or “Tsars”) at first, then just whomever was head of the Politburo.
Russia is a pathetic example of “democracy.” they have no history of democracy and shouldn’t even pretend to be one. The only thing that makes Russia anything is that they have a nuclear arsenal.

Take their nukes away and they are nothing in the geopolitical scene and everyone knows it, Putin knows it, and that it. Without nukes, their army is in shambles and they can’t even deal with the Chechins.

They’re pathetic…not the Russian citizens..no, they are a good people with a proud history deserving of a good leader. It’s just Putin is not it.

The Russian people are a good people and deserve better. But, there votes don’t really count. The entire Russian government is rigged to remain in power. The “people” have no voice. Votes don’t really get counted.

People can say what they with about President Bush but under our system of government he cannot serve more than two terms and in a mere 13 months will be forever an “ex-president.” Period.
Putin…he is a disgrace to Russia. But, even if Kasparov could pull a miracle and win…he couldn’t change the terrible economic conditions that exist in Russia.
Putin is just mad that Russia is a nobody in the world scene…again, take away their nukes and they are nothing politically. Russia can’t do anything but blow their horn about how “tough” they are. Their military is a complete joke. Their nuclear scientists are not “patriots” except to the highest bidder for their knowledge and Putin is just enjoying being in power.
The U.S.A. has always been and forever shall be, as President Abraham Lincoln said, “The Last Best Hope for the Earth.”

And the world can hate us if they wish…but it isn’t “hate” it’s jealosy.

Our leaders saved europe in WWI and WWII and finally even the French have a president that will admit it and is a friend to the U.S. We saved them. They would all be speaking German if it weren’t for our brave soldiers that died for them.

Russia…what a joke. They have nukes and chess players. And a few overpriced bottles of vodka that keep their generals “sane.”

Russia has a history of gulags, Stalin (that murdered more than 20 million people), communism (yes..it’s an absurd political ideal), and nothing to be proud of in the 20th century except Sputnik.

People can hate the U.S. out of jealosy…but we have had the greatest leaders the world has ever known: Washington, John Adams, James Madison, Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Eisenhower, Ronald Reagan…and perhaps the greatest…President Bush.

Good luck Kasparov…but you should stay in New York and play chess.

The US people are a good people and deserve better. But, there votes don’t really count. The entire Neocon government is rigged to remain in power. The “people” have no voice. Florida votes don’t really get counted.

        @ anom Friday, November 23, 2007 12:22:00 PM:
Nothing against the american people, as you don’t have anything again the russian people. But please don’t confuse things when you talk about leadership. The Americans has never been better. Their motivaton has only been worldleadership -The maximum power!- with the goal to exploit everything that isn’t american. They helped during WO 1 & 2, but also started a worldwide crisis back in 1929. and what about their interests (invasions) in Mexico (1848), Cuba, Nicaragua, Honduras, Haiti, Panama, Colombia (many times between 1898 and 1934), or Korea (1950), Dominican republic (1965), Vietnam (1964), Lebanon (1982), Grenada (1983), Libya (1986), Iraq (1991), and a few more?
It’s not a strive for peace, the only words for it are imperial ambition. Please try to learn more about the American history, their bankers and manipulators of history.
