      Kotronias and Markantonaki are 2014 Greek Champions

      Greek Championship


      The 64th Individual Greek Championship and 37th Individual Women Greek Championship were held from 3-11th December 2014 in the luxurious Alkyon Resort Hotel & Spa in Vrahati, Corinth.

      Both sections were 10-player round-robin tournaments.

      WFM Haritomeni Markantonaki became the national champion after walking through the women’s tournament with 8,0/9 points, leaving the nearest followers two points behind.

      The men’s section was more closely contested. Grandmasters Vasilios Kotronias (9-times national champion) and Hristos Banikas (8-times national champion) shared the first place with 6,0/9 points each.

      Kotronias claimed his 10th title of Greek champion on better tie-break score.

      1-2. GM Kotronias Vasilios 2566 and GM Banikas Hristos 2637 – 6
      3. GM Nikolaidis Ioannis 2556 – 5.5
      4-5. FM Malikentzos Sotirios 2395 and GM Kapnisis Spyridon 2451 – 5
      6-7. FM Aggelis Nikolaos 2338 and GM Mastrovasilis Athanasios 2521 – 4
      8. FM Stathopoulos Ioannis 2271 – 3.5
      9-10. FM Kourkoulos-Arditis Stamatis 2294 and Goumas Georgios 2378 – 3

      Final standings, Women:

      1. WFM Markantonaki Haritomeni 2181 – 8
      2-3. WIM Pavlidou Ekaterini 2175 and WFM Grapsa Georgia 2018 – 6
      4-5. WFM Avramidou Anastasia 2237 and WGM Makropoulou Marina 2165 – 5
      6. Makka Evanthia 2082 – 4.5
      7-8. Hristodoulaki Antonia 1981 and WIM Makka Ioulia 2119 – 3.5
      9. Vatkali Dimitra 1992 – 2.5
      10. Androni Konstantina 1891 – 1

      Tournament director was Antonis Bellos and chief arbiter was IA Anastasios Mihailidis.
