Aronian will rule. Kramnik will be drawnik so he can play a match against someone.

It’d be more interesting to have a poll to see how many people regard this as a world championship at all. The world championship title changes hands in matches, not tournaments. In effect, this is a Candidates Tournament, with Kramnik playing on behalf of Topalov.

Eh. Not really a proper world championship perhaps, but we can pretend until next year, if that’s what it takes to get things back on track.

To the anonymous: Well Kramnik accepts that this is a world championship in his interview in chessbase. And if the world champion himself acknowledges that, then this is very much the world championship. There is little or no doubt in that.

where he says “I think that a title which is won in a match to me is more valuable than the title which is won in tournament, but still it’s a title and of course if I don’t win Mexico I cannot call myself world champion. That is clear.”
