      Last day in Morelia

      Mexico, Morelia

      Round 7: Sunday, February 25th

      Peter Leko (3) – Vishy Anand (3.5)
      Vassily Ivanchuk (3) – Levon Aronian (3.5)
      Veselin Topalov (2) – Alexander Morozevich (2)
      Peter Svidler (3) – Magnus Carlsen (4)

With one round to go before the midway mark, the Norwegian phenom is leading the field by 1/2 point, followed by Anand and Aronian. Can he maintain this lead before heading to Linares? Who will win the battle between the 2 crosstable trailers Topalov and Morozevich? Can Leko and Ivanchuk overtake Anand and Aronian?

      What are your predictions?

What I fear is that Anand realising in what sort of jeopardy he went into the last two rounds he might just play for a draw…… anyways he is black…….. so i hope Leko fights it out :D……..

topalov might do similar as he is out of sorts…………

Aronian and Ivanchuk’s match should be a cracker……

In case you know any website where commentary is available on english (non paid website) then please let me know……. as a student got no money to spend right now 😀

Will you be giving a little more detailed analysis on Anand Ivanchuk’s match

        “Susan

Probably not. Even if she does, what you are going to get will be some commputer moves with annotations like follows : “I don’t like black position here”

        Hi,
Topalov Morozevich will be not a draw. I suppose Topalov will win.
        Regards

akshay I believe you can get a trial account at http://www.chess-live.com and be able to see and have a voice feed of the games for free. The link for the games and feed would be in their daily news window.

        Carlsen will loose because….
Carlsen will not receive the computer help from the Fritz team that helped him beat Topalov. They only did it because they hate Topalov.
        :)))

Prediction Schmiction. I am still bummed out by the lame and tame “let’s draw” game they all played yesterday. Yikes! And they wonder why sponsors are hiding. Today, I HOPE for FOUR WHITE WINS! Whoa. How cool would that be? I know, Dream On, OneSong. But, really, how cool would that be? We’d have a Four Way Tie for First at 4.0, Two at 3.5, Topy just a point back in Third and, how ironic, the most imaginative player in the field in the rear! Now THAT would spice up the Spanish feast ahead for all us except Moro. Reality? Their planes are waiting…four quick, lame and tame “let’s draw” the game and get on the plane for Spain kiss your sister mister games. Surprise me boys! And whatta waste yesterday. Here we have a brilliant analyist in our Beloved Suzi LIVE on ICC and the boys thought that the rest day was extended. OhEmGeez…

today Peter (of course Peter Svidler, i’d never dare to call GM Peter Leko by his surname!) will be in the mood to apply some chess venom to the young norwegian chess phenom … i predict a clear win for Peter (^^ – never lose confidence – one of my slogans…).
        thus: 1-0

Vesko will face a tough fight against a relaxed Moro today (i’m quite sure: the main and only reason for the 16 moves GM draw with Peter yesterday – both are russians – was, to prepare Moro well for the fight today!)- but against all odds, Topalov will gain his first win in the tournament (at least to stop this almost unbearable silly cheating by signalling rumors!).
        thus: 1-0

GM Peter Leko vs. GM Vishwanathan Anand will be a clear win for the hungarian (the tiger lost his claws and Peter Leko is in need of some winning points, to win this tournament in the end!).
        thus: 1-0

Ivantchuk vs. Levon … hmmm … hard to predict – the only draw, i guess – why? Levon is getting anxious even when he talks about Ivantschuk’s deep thinking mode. thus: 1/2 – 1/2

Leko – Anand 1/2 (that a no brainer)

        Ivanchuk – Aronian 1-0 or 0-1

Svidler – Carlsen 1-0 (because Svidler plays for a draw, Magnus will press and eventual lose)

Topalov – Morozevich 0-1 (without seeing the spectators Topalov seems to be much worse than his rating)

        Opening predictions

I am wondering what will Anand play today Ruy Lopez or Petroff. He has used both of them effectively against Leko. I hope it is the latter one. It has to be draw i bet it!

Trying to predict whether Ivanchuk will play king pawn or english is stupidity…… he can do anything… trying to predict the result is equally insane

I have a feeling topalov will play king pawn today because he has had wretched runs…… morozevich responded with ruy lopez in their 2005 corus encounter…… i dont think so any of them will fight hard…….. draw seems logical here

svidler- carlsen— they had 3 games in 2006 in which svidler played white and first he deployed ruy.. .lost … then sicilian and lost again……. and ruy third time in which a tough draw…….. i dont think svidler should settle for a quick draw……. i predict svidler winning here

Please do not distort the facts. Carlsen does NOT need any help from any computer

Carlsen is not human. He is an android manufactured by evil Chessbase to punish Topalov.

Topalov was shot with the new KGB Android Frizzle Frazzle gun. The advertisement says

One good shot to the head and Topalov’s mind will be Frizzle Frazzle. He will not be able to think straight or double your money back.
