      Laurent Fressinet impressive in the IdF Blitz International

      The Paris IdF Blitz International was held on 22nd January at the Halle Carpentier. A large crowd of 393 players gathered to participate in the event’s 6th edition.

      French national player and blitz specialist GM Laurent Fressinet stormed through the tournament to take the first place with a convincing 12 points from 13 games, leaving the nearest followers full two points behind. Fressinet pocketed 1500 EUR for the effort, out of the total prize fund of 7500 EUR.

      Grandmasters Daniel Fridman from Germany and Yuri Vovk from Ukraine shared the second place with 10 points each. 108 players competed in the top A Group (elo higher than 2000), including among them a group from the distant Brazil.

      Final standings:
      1. GM FRESSINET Laurent FRA – 12.0

      2-3. GM FRIDMAN Daniel GER and GM VOVK Yuri UKR – 10.0

      4. GM FELLER Sebastien FRA – 9,5

      5-11. GM DAVID Alberto LUX, IM DOURERASSOU Jonathan FRA, GM FIER Alexandr BRA, GM GULIYEV Namig AZE, GM SOLODOVNICHENKO Yuri UKR, IM BATTAGLINI Gabriel FRA and SHIRAZI Kamran FRA – 9.0

      12-25. GM GHARAMIAN Tigran 2760, GM RAUSIS Igor CZE, GM EL DEBS Felipe De Cresce BRA, FM MOLINA Roberto Junio Brito BRA, IM DEMUTH Adrien FRA, GM SHCHEKACHEV Andrei FRA, GM FEDORCHUK Sergey A. UKR, IM SOCHACKI Christophe FRA, GM FELGAER Ruben ARG, GM TESKE Henrik GER, GM KOZAKOV Mikhail UKR, FM IDER Borya FRA, GM FARGERE Francois FRA and IM PICARD Romain FRA – 8.0
