      Major chess event in Baku

      Baku, Festival


      The II International “President’s Cup” Chess Festival is dedicated to the memory of Heydar Aliev. It is taking place from April 30 to May 12 2007. It is organized by the Azerbaijan Youth & Sport Ministry, National Olimpic Committee, Azerbaijan Chess Federation and Republican Chess Center (Club)

      There are 4 sections:

      Children tournament 01-10 May
      Open tournament 03-11 May
      Seniors tournament 03-11 May
      Blitz tournament 12 May

      The total prize fund of the festival is $ 50000 , including monetary rewards, valuable and other prizes.

      After 5 rounds, here are some of the leaders in the Open section:
