      Malakhit, Ugra take gold at the Russian Team Chess Championships 2014

      Russian Team Championship


      The Russian Team Chess Championships for Men and Women took place in Loo, Russia from 7th to 13th April, 2014. The top seeded team of Malakhit took the gold medal with 12 points, leaving ShSM Moscow one point behind.

      Malakhit consists of eight strong Grandmasters: Karjakin Sergey RUS (2772), Grischuk Alexander RUS (2777), Leko Peter HUN (2730), Shirov Alexei LAT (2702), Malakhov Vladimir RUS (2701), Motylev Alexander RUS (2685), Lysyj Igor RUS (2662), Bologan Viktor MDA (2649).

      Final standings in the Men Section:

      1. Malakhit (Avg ELO 2728) – 12
      2. ShSM Moscow (Avg ELO 2673) – 11

      5. Ugra (Avg ELO 2698) – 7
      6. Club Chigorin (Avg ELO 2549) – 7
      7. Ladia Kazan (Avg ELO 2640) – 6
      8. Polytechnik NT (Avg ELO 2555) – 6
      9. Zhiguli Samara (Avg ELO 2562) – 6
      10. Turbonasos (Avg ELO 2478) – 5
      11. Moskovskaia oblast (Avg ELO 2455) – 5
      12. Atom Desnogorsk(Avg ELO 2337) – 5
      13. Iamal (Avg ELO 2417) – 1

      The champion in the Women Section is Ugra Khanty-Mansiysk, including GM Viktorija Cmilyte LTU (2511), WGM Natalija Pogonina RUS (2499), WGM Baira Kovanova RUS (2404), IM Marina Guseva RUS (2371), WGM Tatiana Shadrina RUS (2355).

      Ian Nepomniachtchi and Viktorija Cmilyte are the best first board players, while Alexander Grischuk has best overall performance in the tournament.

      Final standings in the Women Section:

      1. Ugra Khanty Mansiysk – 9
      2. ShSM Moscow – 8
      3. Ladia Kazan – 6
      4. Chigorin SPB – 1
