Malta Chess Open starts on Sunday
      13 January 2010

The Malta Chess Federation (MCF) will be hosting this year’s annual Malta Chess Open championship (for 2009) from next Sunday to 23 January at the MCF premises at 87, St Vincent Street, Sliema, (round the corner from The Ferries seafront).

All chess players are welcome to vie for the various trophies, with a low entrance fee of e5 for members and e10 for non-members. The format will be a seven-round Swiss System with two hours per player per game. The event kicks off on Sunday at 3pm, and play during the week will commence at 6pm. Presentation of prizes will take place on Saturday 23 January at 7.30pm

Last year’s Malta Open (for 2008) was won by Duncan Vella, with Colin Pace runner-up and Joe Gauci and Filipina Aguilera tying in for joint third place.
