      Mark Hebden and Marc Narciso won the 38th Guernsey International Open

      The 38th Guernsey International Chess Festival was held on 21-27 October 2012 at the Peninsula Hotel, Guernsey. The Open Tournament, sponsored by Intertrust Guernsey, was a seven round FIDE-rated Swiss Competition.

      Grandmasters Mark Hebden (England) and Marc Narciso (Spain) shared the first place with 6/7 points each. Hebden dealt with German Wolfgang Mack in the last round quite well. Mack passed 2300 at this Guernsey tournament and therefore attained his FM title.

      The most brilliant game prize was won by 12 year old Theo Slade from England for his game against the experienced German, Rudy von Saldern who was playing in his 37th Guernsey annual tournament out of 38 years.

      Open final standings:

      1-2. GMs Hebden (ENG 2529) and Narciso (ESP 2535) – 6/7,
      3. GM Tischbierek (GER 2468) 5.5/7,
      4-9. IM Houska (ENG 2398), Mack (GER 2283), Norman (ENG 2190), Brooks (ENG 2230), Burrows (ENG 2099) and Purdon (ENG 2099) – 5/7
      10-18. GM Hillarp-Persson (SWE 2556) with 8 others – 4.5/7
      124 players overall (inc. 46 in the Holiday tournament)

      Holiday tournament was sponsored by the Peninsula Hotel. Winners are Jonathan Perrin, Wim van Hoek and Peter van Nijen with 5,5/7 points each.

      The 39th Guernsey International Chess Festival will be held on 20-26 October 2013 at the Peninsula Hotel, Guernsey.
