The newly renovated Brooklyn Children’s Museum welcomed its 100,000th visitor at the new Rafael Viñoly-designed building last Wednesday.

Park Slope resident Monica Engler and her daughter Laila, 3, received cheers from museum staffers as they made their ticket purchase.
“We’ve heard great things about it from everyone. We had to come check it out,” Engler said.

In honor of their incredible victories at the National Chess Championship in Florida last month, students from Intermediate School 318 in Williamsburg were presented with citations from Borough President Markowitz.

The United States Chess Federation sponsored the event. Sixth, seventh and eighth-grade team members from I.S. 318 won titles among the 1,200 players from more than 100 schools in the National Scholastic K-12 Chess Championship.
