Mekhitarian Claims Schoenenwerd Weekend
The 2nd Schoenenwerd Weekend CHessOpen was held from 10th to 12th February at the Hotel Storchen, Oltnerstrasse 16, CH-5012 Schönenwerd, Switzerland.
The tournament was played over 5 rounds of Swiss pairings with the time control of 100 min + 30 sec increment for the whole game.
GM Krikor Sevag Mekhitarian from Brazil took a clear first place and CHF 1200 prize by collecting 4.5 points. He won in the first four games and then drew GM Vladimir Sergeev in the final round.
Sergeev takes the 2nd prize thanks to the good tie-break score. He managed to defeat the top seed GM Evgeny Romanov in mid-tournament.
