Picnic puts spotlight on Lansing group’s activities

…”I was raised without a father, have kids myself and I want to show them the right way, I feel, to raise them as a male,” said M.M.A.D. Vice President Dylan Greer.
The Dangerous Knights Chess Club of Lansing set up a row of chess boards at the picnic and taught kids to play when they got tuckered out from running around the nearby playground.
The one-on-one game offers a great chance for mentoring, the organizers said.
“What chess does is it teaches you to think before you do anything, and that’s big in life,” said club President Bryan Leek.
