      Mongolia to host FIDE Women Grand Prix

      ULAN BATOR, Jul. 16, 2010 (Xinhua News Agency) — The Women’s Chess Grand Prix which is dedicated to Henrik Kasparian will be held from July 29 to August 12 in Mongolia city Ulan bator, local media reported.

      Sixteen top world players have been competing in a series of tournament held in different cities around the world. Twelve of them will be participated in the fifth leg of the World Chess Federation (FIDE) Women Grand Prix here while four other players have skipped.

      I am grateful that Mongolia can host Women Grand Prix for the first time. It will surely contribute chess sport in Mongolia. In recent years chess sport develops rapidly and becomes popular among Mongolian people,” said Mongolian Chess Federation President S. Enkhtsag.

      “Batkhuyag Munguntuul will represent Mongolia and compete with world top players. This tournament is one of the strongest in women chess by bringing together world top players,” he said.

      The former world champion Grandmaster Xu Yuhua of China and Maia Chiburdanidze of Georgia are taking part, as well as world grandmasters Koneru Humpy of India, Zhu Chen of Qatar, Tatiana Kosintseva of Russia, Hou Yifan, Zhao Xue and Shen Yang of China, Sebag Marie of France, Yildiz Betul of Turkey, Fierro Baquero, Martha of Equador and Batkhuyag Munguntuul of Mongolia.
