      My Australian Open Prediction

      Australian Open, tennis

In the men’s section, Federer and Roddick are in separate draws. Roddick is in the same draw as Nadal. Even though the surface is a little slower this year, I still think that it is fast enough to give Roddick a good shot to face Federer in the final.

Federer over Roddick in 4 sets

As for the women’s section, it is tougher to predict. Henin is in the same draw as Mauresmo, Serena Williams and Sharapova. She may meet Sharapova in the quarterfinal and the winner would face the winner of Serena Williams vs. Mauresmo in the semifinal. Tough draw!

The bottom draw only has Venus Williams as the big name. There are other very strong young players with high ranking and seeds but unless you are a die hard women’s tennis fan, you probably will not recognize their names.

Henin over Venus Williams in 3 sets

Picking winners is like reading the tea leaves in the cup. But this is only for fun 🙂

        That’s a sensible prediction. I agree totally.

In men’s section Federer over Nadal in 4 sets.

In women’s section I think Venus is not consistent enough to get to the finals, Ana Ivanovik is getting better and better, she has already reached a Grand Slam final last year, so my pick is Henin over Ivanovik in 3 sets

I think the surface is slow enough to give Nadal a shot against Federer.. Federer in 5 sets… Justine is too good against any opposition… Henin all the way!

Really? Jankovic and Ivanovic are indeed relatively new names, but they both did quite well last year and getting famous. Note that I’m not a die hard tennis fan. I just follow news regularly.

Federer appears to be in great form after the first two rounds. I think he’s going to take his 13th slam! He has Roddick’s number and I don’t think Nadal is going to do well on this fast, low-bouncing surface. Perhaps Federer’s biggest obstacle will be Novak Djokovic, who is also in great form. On the woman’s side, I think there are a handful of players with a good chance. I’ll go out on a limb and bet on Serena for sheer determination:-)

David Nalbandian has to be inside Federer’s head. I think he’s the biggest threat to Roger. On the womens side, The top half of the draw is heavy, but Henin always finds a way against all the heavy hitters. So I say Nalbandian stuns Federer but loses in final to Roddick and Henin over Venus in womens final.

Again Susan, what’s with your fascination with tennis? It is the only other sport you report on here.

        Do you play tennis, Susan?

Think Susan doesnt play tennis, we would see he pictures from papparazzi’s, right? Think all chess players like tennis, because a lot of money there and nice to play (reduce fat from chess) and similarly.
