      Neighborhood news: Scholastic chess tourney scheduled

      The next scholastic chess tournament takes place at Marshall Elementary School, 12505 Kahns Road, on Feb. 21 (snow date, Feb. 28) and is open to all elementary, middle and high school students, including home schoolers.

      The deadline for registration is 6 p.m. Feb. 20. Register via e-mail with name, grade and school to pawnpower@msn.com

      There will be no registration at the school on Feb. 21. Players should arrive no later than 8:45 a.m. and the roll call for players begins promptly at 9.

      The tournament will be held in 4 sections: primary (K-3), elementary (4-5), middle school (6-8) and high school (9-12). Trophies will be awarded to the top individuals and top teams in each section.
