HAMPTON – International master Oladapo Adu will take on local chess players on Friday night as part of the Hampton Sports Festival and Expo at the Hampton Roads Convention Center.

Adu, born in Nigeria but currently living in the U.S., will do two exhibitions on Friday night. The first, at 6 p.m, will involve playing up to 20 simultaneous matches against athletes competing in the festival in sports such as boxing, body building, and various martial arts disciplines. The second, at 7 p.m., will involve up to 30 simultaneous matches against members of the general public.

Local residents who want to play against Adu must register in advance. The fee is $15 in advance or $20 on the day of the event. To register, call Ernie Schlich at 853-5296 or email him at eschlich@verizon.net. Online payments will be accepted here.

For full details on the festival, go online to http://sportshampton.com/go/festival.
