How do you feel about the CJA President Mr. Jerry Hanken publicly calling you name and insulting you?

It has been mentioned at various forums that Mr. Jones, Lux, Goodall, Schultz and Sloan have 300 years of experience in chess. What is your opinion about the good old boys network trashing you and your team?

While I realize that Donna is sincere in her quest, many of the individuals that are supplying her with information do not have the best interest of the federation in mind. I personally find their actions disgusting and deplorable.”

How do you feel about Donna and how do you feel about the dirty political tricks that have often been pulled for decades?

Just one suggestion. On the news stories, and others, from the US, include a keyword on the state it’s from. It not always clear and I find it interesting to know where the report is from.

Interesting story about the Korchnoi-Kasparov 1983 Candidates Match on my blog yesterday. Lots of intrigue with the Russians finally pulling Kasparov out. Behind the scenes story from one of the main organizers.

        Interesting piece of chess history.

I found an interesting web site. It has numerous chess links, as well as quotes, photographs and information about chess and chess players. You have to look for it, but there is some neat chess content there. Go to http://www.statusviatoris.net

I’d like to thank you, Susan, for
        providing your blog, putting so
much time into it, and being so
        generous with your time–It’s a
such a treat for players to have a
        GM that’s so accessible.

I’d also like to plug your dad’s
        chess problems book–It’s very
        thick and very inexpensive too!
Not too long ago I decided to
“get back into chess” after pretty
        much abandoning it after childhood.
        So I picked-up your dad’s bargain
book–I’m still a patzer, but the
        book has helped me tactically
(which has helped me recover from
        blown openings)–Now most of the
problems seem pretty easy to me,
but most importantly, when I come
across an occasional gem of a
problem, I share it with friends
and family–And we have a whole
        lot of fun!

        Anton

There’s no always much actual discussion on this blog – a topic is mentioned and gets maybe two replies but that’s it, everyone has moved onto the next day. I think one reason might be the format – a discussion forum would have any number of threads working at once, easily accessible and allowing an extended discussion of the topic over several weeks even.

I would have liked more about the Horizon programme and ideas concerning chess, creativity, intelligence and so on but nothing came of it.

Any chance such a forum could be set up – this blog is one of my regular reads, it’s just not so interactive.

        Thanks

        lsur
