      Atalik, Serbia

      The 5th International Chess Festival “Sport Summer 2012″ is taking place on 6-13th July in Hotel Petrus in Paraćin, Serbia.

      The main event is Open A – International Championship of Central Serbia, a 9-round Swiss tournament with FIDE time control which will be valid for FIDE rating and GM/IM norms.

      There are two groups, OPEN A for the players rated higher then 2100 and OPEN B for the lower rated players.

      GM Suat Atalik emerged sole leader of the main event after defeating the tough GM Boban Bogosavljevic in the 7th round. Atalik has 6 points while Bogosavljevic remained on 5 and is sharing the fourth place.

      GM Aleksandar Kovacevic, with his 4th consecutive victory, and GM Gyula Pap, after scoring against the American IM Kislik Erik Andrew, are sharing the second place with 5.5 points each.

      Second-seeded GM Yuri Vovk and last year winner GM Mikhail Ulibin signed a draw.

      2-3. GM Pap Gyula HUN 2566 and GM Kovacevic Aleksandar SRB 2537 – 5.5

      4-12. IM Indjic Aleksandar SRB 2451, GM Bogosavljevic Boban SRB 2520, GM Vovk Yuri UKR 2584, GM Damljanovic Branko SRB 2564, GM Gleizerov Evgeny RUS 2565, GM Ulibin Mikhail RUS 2531, GM Martinovic Slobodan SRB 2447, GM Bogdanovski Vlatko MKD 2454 and IM Maksimovic Branimir SRB 2452 – 5

      13-25.       Top round 8 pairings are: GM Atalik Suat – GM Kovacevic Aleksandar, GM Pap Gyula – Vovk Yuri, GM Bogdanovski Vlatko – GM Gleizerov Evgeny, GM Damljanovic Branko – IM Maksimovic Branimir, GM Ulibin Mikhail – GM Martinovic Slobodan and IM Indjic Aleksandar – GM Bogosavljevic Boban.

      In the Open B, MK Franca Veronika SLO 1849, MK Milosevic Rade SRB 2099, MK Ostojic Nikola M SRB 2048 and MK Pleshakov Anton RUS 2074 are sharing the lead with 6/7 points each. 140 players participate in this group.

      The 8th “Uroš Dinić” Memorial, a 15-minute per player rapid tournament, was held on the main event’s rest day – Sunday, 8th July. IM Zoran Arsovic was the convincing winner with 8 points in competition of 104 players (11 Grandmasters, 12 International Masters).
