(OPENPRESS) November 21, 2008 — The new online chess game PlayE4 is one of the main sponsors of the 34th Israel Chess Championship, scheduled to begin on November 30 until December 12, 2008 at the MadaTech chess club in Haifa, Israel. PlayE4 is contributing the 1st prize 10,000 ILS (about $2,570 or €02,030). PlayE4 is also providing a broadcast platform for the most highlights of the chess championship, allowing chess fans to watch the games live, online, and for free.
The opening ceremony of the Israel Chess Championship will begin on Sunday, November 30 at 15:00 at the MadaTech chess club in the Israel Institute of Technology (Technion), Haifa, Israel. The biannual chess championship is going on for the 34th time, courtesy of the City of Haifa and the Israel Chess Federation (ICF) with Israel’s top chess players, including Grandmaster Boris Gelfard, Evgeny Postny and Michael Roiz, who are ranked among FIDE (World Chess Federation) Top 100 Players Rating List.
As part of the national chess championship, MadaTech chess club will be hosting an open active chess tournament. Consisting of seven Swiss rounds, with time limitation of 20 minutes + 5 seconds, the active chess tournament will take place on Tuesday, December 2nd between 18:00 and 22:00, and Friday, December 5th, from 10:00 to 13:00.
