        1. Rg5:+ hg5:
        2. Qh5+ Kf5
        3. Qf7:+ and mates.

        1. Rxg5+! fxg5 (Kxg5? Qh5#)
        Deflecting f6 is the point here.
        Needless to say, the rest has to be check in every move:
        2. Qh5+ Kf5 (only)
        3. Qxf7+ Qf6 (Kg4 Qf3#)
        4. Qxf6+ Kg4
        5. Qf3#
        Very practical indeed.

        it is key to use the chance and open the bishop-diagonal to deny the king to retreat .. :

        1.Rxg5+ fg 2.Qh5+ Kf5 3.Qf7+ Kg4 4.Qf3#

        (looking at black’s alternatives : 1. .. Kxg5 is too quick a road to mate, 3. .. Qf6 a too long one).

        thank you for all the puzzles, Susan !

        Rxg5 + , game over.
        If Kxg5 or gxh5, Qh5 mate.

        1. Rxg5+
        Anything Black does leads to mate on the next move:
        If 1…. Kxg5, then 2. Qh5++
        If 1… Kh6/h7, then again Qh5++
        If 1…. f6xg5, then again Qh5++

        Rg5 plays itself:

        1. Rg5 fg5 (Kg5 2.Qh5#)
        2. Qg5 Kf5
        3. Qf7 with mate to follow in 1 or 2 more moves.
