I think I have this one….
1. Qxd5+ Rxd5
2. Re7 Qxe7
3. fxe7 Re8
4. Rf8 Rxf8
5. exf8#
1.Qxd5+ Rxd5
2.Re7 Qxe7
2…Nd6 still loses, but is much tougher to beat.
another idea: 1. f7 rxf7 1. qxd5 rxd5 3. re8. if 2… nd6, black is nearly stalemated, and white has to means to increase pressure (e.g. 3 rf8 threatening rxd6 etc)
axel
How about 1.f7+ first? 1…Rxf7 and only now 2.Qxd5+? 2…Nd6 3.Rf6 looks overpowering.
What about starting with
1. R-e7 Nxe7
2. f7
or
1. R-e7 Rxe7
2. Pxe7
I don’t see any descent defense for black
1.Re7 Rxe7
2.fxe7
2…Qxe7 defends all the mate threats and keeps the extra piece.
