      Čez Chess Trophy 2010
Rapid chess match Judit Polgar – David Navara
      Report by Chessdom

The world’s best woman chess player (the true Queen of Chess) Judit Polgar arrived together with her husband Gusztáv Font to Prague to play a match against the Czech best chess player David Navara and a simul against 25 players. Despite the complications caused by volcanic ash, which for instance forced the match commentator Lubomir Kavalek to complete the last bit of his journey from Washington to Prague by train, the plane with Judit Polgar took off from Budapest and safely landed in Prague.

Judit Polgar will compete against the grandmaster Navara from Thursday 22 April to Saturday 24 April 2010 in the eight-game rapid chess match (25 minutes for a game with an increment of 10 seconds per move). The match will take place at Michna Palace (entrance from Vsehrdova street). All games will be broadcasted online on the web of Prague Chess Society. The grandmaster Lubomir Kavalek will be commentating the games for the audience at Michna Palace.

The tournament’s opening ceremony will start on Thursday 22 April at 5 p.m., among guests will be the Czech prime minister Jan Fischer, who will open the match by making the first move on the chessboard.

Tickets for the event can be bought at the reception of BW Kampa Hotel (Vsehrdova 16, Praha 1), or you can book them by e-mail (pavel.matocha@gmail.com).

On Sunday 25 April at BW Kampa Hotel, Judit Polgar is going to play a simul against 25 opponents including well-known business personalities or politicians, among others: the minister of interior Martin Pecina, the director of Dopravni stavby Brno Vlastimil Chladek, the director of PORG gymnasium Vaclav Klaus or director of CSOB Jan Lamser.

The legendary grandmasters Lubomir Kavalek and Vlastimil Hort will open each day of the Čez Chess Trophy 2010 with a lecture on chess topics (on specifics of women chess, on a difference between male and female style of the game, on the first world’s woman grandmaster Vera Menchik).

The full tournament’s programme is listed here.

The chess festival Čez Chess Trophy 2010 is organized by the Prague Chess Society.

Good luck to Judit but I wish Susan Polgar would play some meaningful match or tournament.
How about next years US Championship? Rex would make the conditions suitable for Susan’s liking.

Judit is the one and only chess queen. It’s a joke that Kosteniuk even calls herself a chess queen.

GO JUDIT! You are the better chess player than Navara!
        FOREVER, do not stop!

Best of Luck to Judit. These matches are fun, but I would love to see her play real tournament chess again.
