Wonder what would happen to the cycle if Topalov gets a 3 year suspension by the fide ethics committee.

If he only gets a fine, or, say, 6 months, he’ll be back in plenty of time.

This is a joke. Elista forever tainted the image of chess. Many fans became (and still are) quite disillusioned with this egotistical group called “super-GM’s”.

Topalov, and to some extent others, have damaged the image of chess. Plus, why does the World Champion use his title and fame to promote, say, scholastic chess?

No matter who is the WCC is or will be, computers have proven they are better than the best human players. So, who is the best chess player on Earth: Rybka.

Any other name is not the best be it human or a program. The future of chess theory will come from computers not human creation.

Plus, computers will not act like babies and accuse their opponent of cheating.

        1. Many fans doesn’t happen to mean “you” for any chance?

        2. At a rough estimate, there are about 500 Super-GM’s worldwide. Can you tell me how they – as a group – act egoistic or are you, Mr. Anonymous, just generalising from part of them, or maybe just generalising from one or two?

        3. Kramnik was visiting Dresden last week in order to promote the Olympics. Under his patronage, the participating nations were distributed to various schools in Germany as sponsors. Read: The WCC DOES promote scholastic chess.

        4. A chess computer is better at chess than a human. So what? In any field of human competition, it is possible to build a machine that beats the strongest human. And still we enjoy to watch each other’s feeble attempts at competing with each other.

        5. The future of chess theory will not come from computers. They only know the theory, they are programmed to know. There has been no new knowledge or theory generated by a chess computer.

In general unfair. Why these two Gms get such a treatment. One can understand of Kramnik, he is an unified world champion. Why such a treatment to Topa. Its unfair to all players especially Anand. Why not have a match C with Anand he being the highest rated player!!

Why is Topalov seeded into the final of the challegers doing absolutely nothing. The guy is a cheat. He took moves from Danailov who was using a computer.

I hope he gets 30 years ban from chess. We do not need Danailov and Topalov.
