The Russian Chess Queen GM Tatiana Kosintseva of Russia convincingly won the 2010 Women’s Grand Prix in Nalchik! She finished ahead of 2nd place GM Yifan Hou by 1.5 point and she is 3.5 points ahead of GM Humpy Koneru!
She has alternated with her older sister and others as the #1 ranked female player from Russia in the past few years. With this magnificent performance, she has certainly lived up to the label given by the great Garry Kasparov as the most talented female player from Russia today.

Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Wow! Impressive performance by the beautiful Tatiana.
another great performance by T.K. Nevertheless, Alissa Gallyamova is the Russian Chess Queen, until this Dec at least.
hey guys we been trickin women for centuries tellen them we are better in chess, i think somehow they startin to get mad at our lies, just look what my lil sister is doin to some of the traditionalist in the gendermatches. i think our times up guys???sssshshhhhsss.
With all due respect to the sisters (Natalia has also congratulated them – http://pogonina.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=260&Itemid=1&lang=english), Nadya broke 2500 in November last year, while Tanya did it in July 2007. Thus the claim of “alternating first place” for a few years is an overstatement. A few months, maybe.
P.S. Does Kasparov know he made that statement, which is repeated so often here? 🙂
Is that beer or apple juice?
Congrats to Tatiana :)…She did very well 🙂
Congrats to Tatiana 🙂
Congrats to Tatiana 🙂
Peter,
We were asked back in 2003-2005 who are some of the top young female chess players in the foreseeable future. Garry picked Tatiana Kosintseva and I picked Anna Muzychuk. He decided to add that in his opinion, Tatiana is by far the most talented young female Russian player. The original question had nothing to do with Russia. It is young top female players overall 🙂
I am just giving him a dig since Anna and Tatiana kept going back and forth in the ranking. It is a funny inside thing 🙂
Best wishes,
Susan
Susan, do you think Tatiana will also start playing in regular mens events to further improve her game? Chess could use a few more strong woman players.
“Is that beer or apple juice?”
Urine sample for FIDE.
You have to admit that the FIDE joke was pretty funny.
she’s really pretty as well
Pogonina and Tatiana Kosintseva are both hot looking. I think they’re in a much higher league than Kosteniuk. They’re both also very nice and not so arrogant and condescending. 2 cheers to Natalia and Tatiana.
btw, where can i check the players’ performance rating for this tourment?
Susan, if the same question asked to you now, who is the most talented female young player in your opinion? Answer changed?
3D games
Ok ,Um stickin with Yildiz i think if she cuts back on the tricky openings and tactics she can beat errbody!, except KOSTAROOK!
