      Sagaalgan Chess Festival 2014

      Chess tournament, Russian Chess Federation


      The 12th Sagaalgan Chess Festival 2014 will take place from 28th February to 2nd March at the Buddhist University “Dashi Choynhorlin” in Ivolga Datsan, near Ulan-Ude in the Russian Republic of Buryatia.

      The tournament is organized by the Russian Chess Federation, Buddhist University “Dashi Choynhorlin”, Republic of Buryatia and the Chess Federation of Buryatia.

      The 13-round rapid tournament with the time control 25 minutes per player is a stage of the Rapid Grand Prix of Russia.

      The total prize fund is 653,000 rubles (approx 13,500 EUR). The local sponsors are providing around 500,000 rubles, while the Russian Chess Federation is donating 150,000 rubles. First place is 2000 EUR worth.

      Last year the Festival gathered 494 participants and the winner was GM Boris Savchenko from Krasnodar.
