HYDERABAD: It was a rare congruence of celebrities from different walks of life when the All-India Conference of Intellectuals felicitated them at a function at Indira Priyadarshni indoor hall on Sunday.
When Governor Rameshwar Thakur honoured tennis sensation Sania Mirza and chess prodigy Koneru Humpy, both gold medallists in the recent Doha Asian Games, they got the biggest round of applause. The duo enjoyed the unique manner in which the felicitations were organised – recipients were presented with colourful `pagdis’ along with a memento, shawl and citation. They were also presented with the title of `Proud daughter of the soil.’
