Azerbaijan and Russia have a stronger (certainly higher rated top board and much more 2700+ strength in depth.
Who is going to win the title for USA in a classical match. Nakamura is the only current top player with anywhere near the talent, but he is too afraid he might not be good enough for WC, so he is unlikely to put in the work. Robson, Hess or someone else in future perhaps, but you are jumping the gun in your comment.
Who in the US is currently able to stand up to Magnus ? Or Anand (the champion) ? Or Topalov or Kramnik (the exes) ? Or Aronian (the one who seems to have the most fun & takes it easy & still gets results) ? The World Championship is NOT a team competition, it is about individual players & the only Russian in the top 5 is Kramnik.
