Tonight Magnus won a special prize at the Norwegian Sports Award! Congratulations, Magnus! At last it seems that chess is beginning to be recognized as a sport in Norway.

My daughter was getting obsessed with chess and not taking enough notice of her goldfish.

I wrote to an advice column to see what to do.

They recommended I make a goldfish bowl by cutting up her wooden chessboard, making a 4×4 base, 4 2×4 sides, and using the other square somehow as sculptures in the water.

I did this. She is now playing less chess and taking more notice of her goldfish. Result.
