If Obama Wins, One Thing is Certain — For Your Investments…

        Dear Fellow American,

If Barack Obama wins this election, one thing is certain… he will preside over the largest expansion of the government’s role in the economy since the 1930s.

This “New New Deal,” as some Democrats are already calling it, may well have the same result as the original one: to turn a sharp, painful recession into a long Depression.

Will that set the stage for a GOP president in 2012 — the way ’70s stagflation under Jimmy Carter set the stage for Ronald Reagan? I doubt it. More likely, Obama will be able to parlay the hard economic times into a second term.

How? The same way FDR did… by blaming everything that happens on his watch on his predecessors. The worse things get, the more the Obamacrats will blame it on “eight years of Republican deregulation, tax cuts and greed,” calling for even more government intervention as the solution.

And the media, of course, will back them up.

But believe it or not, I’m not writing to you today to warn of the dangers of an Obama presidency — I suspect you know them all too well. What I am writing to you about is how to protect your own financial well-being during the hard times to come.

It’s crucial to understand: Hard times for America does not necessarily mean hard times for you. As a very wise investment expert of my acquaintance, Nicholas Vardy, likes to say, “No matter what the state of financial markets, there is always a strategy out there that can make you money.”

The key, Vardy explains, is to recognize opportunities wherever they may be and, more importantly, detach yourself from old themes that are no longer working.

Vardy himself, an American based in London, is a master at crafting such cutting-edge investment strategies — which he then passes on to subscribers to his Global Stock Investor investment newsletter.

So, for instance, back in mid-2007 Vardy was months ahead of the curve in spotting the coming boom in “soft” (agricultural) commodities — recommending stocks like Canadian fertilizer giant Potash, which shot up quickly in price before coming back down to earth, by which time his subscribers had safely banked profits of 82% in just over three months time.

And that’s nothing compared to the magic Vardy performed for his subscribers during the week of October 6-10, now on record as the worst in Wall Street history.

Consider this: During that five-day trading period, which wiped out some $2.4 trillion in shareholder wealth, Vardy’s Global Stock Investor portfolio finished the week in the black.

Compared to the -17% decline in the Dow, that’s incredible.

How does Nicholas Vardy do it? If I knew, I’d be in his business, not mine. But I’m sure those countless hours he spends sharing investment ideas with Europe’s top money managers has something to do with it — not to mention his graduate degrees from Stanford and Harvard.

Don’t get me wrong: Nicholas Vardy is no elitist snob. Though he makes his “real” money managing money for a few wealthy clients, he also likes to “spread the wealth” — not through higher taxes (sorry, Obama), but by helping people like you and me make profitable investments.

Full disclosure: I receive a percentage of each subscription sold, but even if I didn’t, I’d want you to know about this amazing service. Nicholas’ advice is rock solid. You’ll thank me later.

Let’s face it, the next few years will be tough ones for America, no matter who wins the presidency. But, to repeat, they don’t have to be tough ones for you — if you follow the brilliant investment strategies in Nicholas Vardy’s Global Stock Investor. I urge you to give it a try.

        Sincerely,
        Dick Morris

Well – to get back to chess… I want to say thanks again, Susan for the great coverage of the world championship.

Can I ask about the logic of the next phases of matches (Topalev v Kamsky and then the winner v Anand). It all seems very suspicious. And completely different to the way challengers have been determined before. What is the logic of it? And is it justified?

Obama’s Kenyan Aunt in US IllegallyBy EILEEN SULLIVAN and ELLIOT SPAGAT, AP

WASHINGTON (Nov. 1) – Barack Obama’s aunt, a Kenyan woman who has been quietly living in public housing in Boston, is in the United States illegally after an immigration judge rejected her request for asylum four years ago, The Associated Press has learned.

Zeituni Onyango (zay-TUHN on-YANG-oh), referred to as “Aunti Zeituni” in the Democratic presidential candidate’s memoir, was instructed to leave the United States by a U.S. immigration judge who denied her asylum request, a person familiar with the matter told the AP late Friday. This person spoke on condition of anonymity because no one was authorized to discuss Onyango’s case.

Onyango, 56, is Obama’s late father’s half-sister, the Obama campaign has confirmed. She is not a relative whom Obama, 47, has discussed in campaign appearances and, unlike Obama’s father and his maternal grandmother, is not someone who has been part of the public discussion about his personal life.

The Obama campaign declined to comment late Friday night.

Information about the deportation case was disclosed and confirmed by two separate sources, one a federal law enforcement official. The information they made available is known to officials in the federal government, but the AP could not establish whether anyone at a political level in the Bush administration or in the McCain campaign had been involved in its release.

A Republican supporter’s quote: “”the Obamacrats will blame it on “eight years of Republican deregulation””

*duh*: the only way for Republicans to escape blame for what they are at fault is to say they will get blamed for it and the blame is nothing but political bashing.

Wow! Such blame-blame bashing is creating a state of apathy in this country. The strategy of negative bashing and then calling all negative statements as nothing but bashing leaves many at a loss as to what to beleive in. I wonder how anyone can get a right accusation in, with such a strategy!

With a Repulican government that has failed so badly over the past 8 years, such apathy is their only hope of winning support.

Kudos to a well thought out strategy!

Most chess fans who really love
        to see Anand vs Kasparov!!
        Forget about the complicated format
        of candidates matches for
        World Championship,
which simply makes this dream match impossible.
We just want to see a match
(independent of any title or championship) between them! Can some billionaire
or influential person arrange such a match?

        About Kasparov vs Anand:

As times go by, we should take a look at the further steps. There are so many real strong and promising young grandmasters, that it will be really a magnificent near future.

And meanwhile: What a dream to see Gata in a match with Anand fifteen years after their early battles!

        okay

Zogby Shocker: McCain Leads Obama In Latest Poll

Dick Morris tells Newsmax that Friday night’s polling for Zogby of 1000 likely voters shows a huge shift for John McCain. Zogby’s poll, conducted on Friday night only, has McCain at 48% and Obama at 47%.

Zogby’s overall poll has Obama with a lead — but that’s based on a three-day average that includes Wednesday and Thursday polling data.

“There is a seismic shift for McCain; it could turn into an earthquake this weekend,” Dick Morris told Newsmax.

“I think a large of the credit goes to GOPTrust.com for it’s courageous use of the Rev. Wright ad and the many tens of thousands who have donated almost $9 million before election day,” Dick Morris added.

You politic guys. You get payed for spaming here or something?

There are plenty of us non-Americans here and we don’t care about your elections. And I’m sure all the Americans are also fed up with all this propaganda that they were bombarded with for the last months. maybe they come here to get a rest from politics.

So give it a rest, will you?

The pic is from the BBC Horizon 2007 Battle of the Brains (program), where the broader applicability of different kinds of specific intelligence were tested. Highlights are on the web.

The result wasn’t too important, but the Dramatist won and the Quantum Physicist was second. I forget who was third.

Susan P didn’t get much of a mention and I think she struggled on most tests, so either she was having a bad day or is very chess specific.

I remember it – S Polgar was against people who were the best in their fields – in fact I remember her doing really well in a test where I think you had to sink a basketball wearing glasses which turned everything upside down. Very difficult. In fact part of the programme was to demonstrate that there are different types of intelligence – there are probably many.

It’s a very nice picture. This political stuff is ridiculous and I agree with anonymous who points out we’re not all from the States.

It’s very nice that Anand re-won the World Chess Championship, having been No 2 for so long when Kasparov played.

Yes, that was Susan’s best test I think – working out how to operate when seeing upside down.

Actually, the Dramatist Bonnie Greer (not top-3 at IQ test) shared top spot with Quantum Physicist Seth Lloyd (ace at IQ test).

The suggestion is that there are specific forms of intelligence which are not picked up by the IQ test. There was no suggestion that these forms of intelligence convey ‘advantage’ in life, except in specific areas.
