Should Carlsen have Kasparov in his camp?

Anand, Garry Kasparov, Magnus Carlsen, World Championship
Should Carlsen have Kasparov in his camp to prepare for the World Championship?

Former world champion Garry Kasparov is currently visiting Oslo where he will celebrate his 50th birthday tomorrow. He is also there to meet Magnus Carlsen‘s manager Espen Agdestein to negotiate a resumption of the collaboration with the Nr.1 player in the world.

Kasparov already worked with Magnus in 2010 and helped him to position himself as the best rated player in the world. The Russian activist declared in an interview with VG that “ if Magnus does his homework well and is psychologically prepared, he will win the match against Vishy Anand“.

The Russian also pointed out that “Anand is an expert at exploiting the mistakes of others”, and that his experience in matches might tell in this year’s main event.

Kasparov became world champion when he was only 22 years old and wants to help the new young star to achieve a similar feat.

Should Magnus have Kasparov in his camp? And how should Anand feel about this?

It’s a slap in the face to Anand. Kasparov always has to be in the middle of something. He can’t stand being irrelevant.

This is more psychological ploy and learning about matches then about the openings.

Why not – it is the WCC

Time for Magnus to Cram for finals.

In one sense, I would like Kasporav to help Magnus. My reasoning here is that it would offer a chance for Anand to indirectly defeat him.

Should Magnus and Kasporav hit it off, this dilutes Anand’s great advantage in experience over Magnus.

Carlsen has already worked with Kasparov before, this is a great opportunity to get prepared to win this tournament.

Kasparov is there to teach Magnus how to slam doors, slam down the pieces, perhaps take back a move or two and generally misbehave to upset Anand.

Anon Apr12, 10.19 PM: You are quite mistaken! Kasparov is only trying to unfairly get into the limelight. His rotten character is well-known and most of his wins in the past are based on his gorilla tactic of unnerving his opponents by misbehaving on the chessboard, like slamming pieces, slamming doors, staring unabashedly at the opponent when the latter is thinking of his next move, etc, etc. Let us wait and see if Anand’s win against Carlsen turns the tables and in the end it is Kasparov who gets bashed in the face!!
