      Singapore Dream Team for the Chess Olympiad 2010
      GM Zhang Zhong is player, coach, and captain

      The Singapore Chess Federation shall compete this year in the Open Section of the World Chess Olympiad in Khanty-Mansiysk, (Russia), 19 September – 4 October 2010.

      This year’s Singapore Dream Team shall consist of:

      GM Zhang Zhong (B: 1978, FIDE ID: 8600694)
      FM Chan Wei Xuan Timothy (B: 1993, FIDE ID: 5802032)
      FM Chua Zheng Yuan Terry (B: 1993, FIDE ID: 5801150)
      FM Fernandez Daniel Howard (B: 1995, FIDE ID: 5801605)
      WFM Tay Li Jin Jeslin (B: 1990, FIDE ID: 5800927)

      Grandmaster Zhang Zhong shall act as Team Singapore Captain and Coach. FIDE Masters Timothy Chan, Terry Chua, Daniel Fernandez and Woman FIDE Master Jeslin Tay are all with recent respective IM/WIM norms and are active in national and international competitions.

      All teams for the 2010 Chess Olympiad

      The team was chosen after extensive deliberations by SCF’s HPE. The SCF is confident that our selection of talented and strong youth players, combined with invaluable experience of a world-class GM, will do Singapore proud at Olympiad 2010.

        Zhang Zhong doesn’t sound like a Malaysian name.

        Don’t know where that came from; the post is about Singapore. Singapore is predominantly Chinese; Malaysia is not(with a significant Chinese population though), however, the Chinese are the majority of chess players. In this day and age of globalization there isn’t much substance into guessing where people are from based on their last names, especially Chinese.
