Bulgarian Chess Chief: Anand-Topalov match will remain in history

“Although challenger Veselin Topalov failed in his attempt to dethrone world chess champion Vishy Anand, the match between the two chess giants will leave a mark in the history of the game,” said Mr. Stefan Sergiev, President of the Bulgarian Chess Federation.
In addition to the interesting games and the equal chances of the two opponents until the last game, the match will be remembered for the spirit of fair-play that was present until its very end.
“Sofia was a world-class host of this big chess forum,” said Aruna Anand, wife and manager of the champion, who successfully defended his title.

I totally agree, Sofia hosted an unprecedently open, fair, and exciting chess match! This is how it should be done.
The only thing I did not like was that the Dutch defence did not appear, but, then, that is for the players to decide.
The event was great, thank you Sofia, and thank you Bulgaria, from Finland.
Except for the reaction to the Volcanogate everything else was fine. It is not that they refused to postpone for three as requested it is the way they responded in a very ugly way that was unsporting. Anyway all is well that ends well.

I wonder if anyone who was there will right a good book on the match.
I’m glad Anand won, and I’m sad Topalov lost.
It was a great match…despite the nasty stuff when Anand was delayed.
I honestly hope any WCC in the future is NOT played in one of the participants host country.
But yes…it was certainly a fun match! Really could have gone either way. Congrats to both!

I would like Susan to comment all 12 games in one, pointing at weakness and strong points of both players. Who played more often nearer to chess machines like Rybka?
