SPF supports the 48th Annual US Armed Forces Championship

      SPF, US Armed Forces Championship

The Susan Polgar Foundation is proud to be one of the sponsors for the 48th Annual U.S. Armed Forces Open Chess Championship.

A United States Chess Federation Heritage Event!

The 2007 (48th Annual) U.S. Armed Forces Open Chess Championship
Held at Henderson Hall (Arlington), VA
6-8 October 2007 – The Columbus Day Weekend

      STILL NO ENTRY FEE!

The 4th Armed Forces Cadet Championship and 5th Henderson Hall Open Championship will be conducted in conjunction with the Armed Forces Open.

This year the tournament will be played in *cut-throat style to determine who is the all time individual Armed Forces Champion, and also scored as a team event. The scoring system that will be implemented this year has been blessed by the United States Chess Federation for this tournament. Click here for more information about the team scoring system.

*cut-throat meaning, teammates will now possibly play one another (depending on the outcome of the swiss system pairing) and the results of that round will not hurt the teams overall performance.

Tournament open to all Active Duty, Reservists, Military Retirees, Cadets, Midshipmen, and ROTC personnel who have a USCF Membership. Military ID required for access to Henderson Hall. Tournament to be conducted at the Smith Gym.

Prizes: Trophies/Plaques to Top 3 overall players, Top player of each DoD service on Active Duty, Top Reservist, Top Retiree, Top three Cadets/Midshipmen/ROTC, Top two each class A-D and below, Highest Upset, and Top Henderson Hall Champion, and other Trophies/Plaques and special prizes.

      Special prizes!

Please enter in advance by sending an e-mail to JohnnyUSMC@AOL.COM. Please include Rank, Name, USCF ID #, current rating, branch of service, and t-shirt size when registering for the tournament. If you register prior to 15 September 2007, you will receive a free 2007 AFOCC T-shirt. No whining to get a T-shirt if you register late!
