      Statements by the two parties

Anatoly Karpov, Chess election, FIDE, Khanty-Mansiysk, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov

Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and the “One World. One Vision.” Team Wins the 2010 FIDE Elections!
      September 29, 2010
      http://www.onefide.com

A Staggering 95 National Federations Voted for Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and his Team!

      A GLORIOUS VICTORY FOR KIRSAN!

We would like to thank ALL OF THE NATIONAL FEDERATIONS WHO SUPPORTED US and helped us WIN THIS ELECTION!

The “One World. One Vision.” Team CRUSHED Anatoly Karpov and his team with a sweeping defeat!

THE FINAL VOTE COUNT WAS 95-55!

Mr. Ilyumzhinov’s new term runs until 2014; he has been president of FIDE since 1995.

It is a great victory for the team, which includes:

      Mr. Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, President
      Georgios Makropoulos (Greece), Deputy President
      Lewis Ncube (Zambia), Vice President
      Beatriz Marinello (Chile/Brazil), Vice President
      Ignatius Leong (Singapore), General Secretary
      Nigel Freeman (Bermuda), Treasurer

      Statement from Karpov team

The Election Is Over, the Fight Goes On
      September 29, 2010
      http://www.karpov2010.org

In an election that confirmed the worst of our fears about the integrity of the process, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov won the vote in Khanty-Mansiysk. Considering the rampant abuses that took place there, especially with the abhorrently corrupt proxy system, it is difficult, if not impossible, to consider this a legitimate election.

No matter how Anatoly Karpov decides to continue this battle to restore and transform the chess world, he wishes to express his thanks to everyone who joined us in this effort. We promoted chess worldwide to an unprecedented degree during this campaign. We proved beyond any doubt that a vast majority of the world’s chess players support our agenda and our vision for the future of chess as a 21st century sport and of FIDE as a modern organization. This election also showed how it has become impossible to effect this change from within FIDE, which has long ceased to represent the federations or the chess players.

A full statement from Anatoly Karpov and the campaign will soon follow here.

Nothing like a good old fashioned Masonic symbol to frame this event.

        The Eye of Providence…Bah!
