      Svidler, NOT Caruana, is Organiser’s nominee for 2014 Candidates Tournament

      Candidates Tournament, Fabiano Caruana, Khanty-Mansiysk, Peter Svidler


      GM Peter Svidler is the Organiser’s nominee for 2014 Candidates Tournament.

      2014 Candidates Tournament will take place from 12th March to 30th March 2014 in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia.

        Obviously. He did well at the last candidates and deserves a shot. Why caruana? He couldn’t qualify by rating this time but may in 2015 or via grand prix.

        Great choice of Svidler. Him or Caruana would have been ok. I’m just glad it’s not that overrated Nakamura.

        I actually really like Svidler as a chess player, and I think it’s a great choice and a great opportunity for Svidler. I hope he makes good use of it.

        It should have been Nakamura. He is highest rated, and plays the most exciting style of chess.

        Bring back the old regional candidates format and none of this nonsense would occur.

        Well, I like Svidler as a player he is very experienced and has good result against Carlsen this year. But I think Caruana is much stronger and more determined to win games.
