      Students gather for Syracuse chess championship: The results

      March 20, 2010, 9:00PM

      Students who love chess gathered at Frazer School in Syracuse today for the Syracuse City Scholastic Chess Championship.

      The students ranged from kindergarten to 12th grade.

      Here are the results:

      K-6 Section

      Champion: David Ahyee of Southside Academy Charter School 4 wins (4-0)

      2nd (All these players finished with identical scores of 3-1).

      Billy Leiker of Jamesville Elementary

      Ben Fish of Manlius Pebble Hill

      Andrew Goldberg of Manlius Pebble Hill

      Rahkim Thomas of Southside Academy

      Southside Academy won the K-6 team title, with Manlius Pebble Hill and Jamesville placing 2nd and 3rd respectively.

      K-12 Section

      Champion: Sage Dygert of Southside Academy with a 4-0 score

      2nd: Sophie Kardaras of Frazer School who was undefeated, but gave up one draw while scoring 3.5 points for clear 2nd place.

      3rd: Ron West of Frazer 3-1

      4th: Sarah Spencer: Scoring 2.5 points along with fellow Frazer teammates Randy Nguyen, Johnny Ros, Matt Huynh.

      Frazer School won the K-12 Team championship, with Syracuse Central (ITC) placing 2nd.
